LINCOLN
On
Sunday, October 22, 2017, the two oldest age group teams in the
Lincoln Youth Football League will head to Lucas Oil Dome in
Indianapolis. These two teams made up of sixth, seventh and
eighth-graders will play on the field after the Colts game Sunday
afternoon. The players, along with their parents, will load on two
buses at 6 a.m. for the trek to Indianapolis. Donuts compliments of
Mel-O-Cream will be served for breakfast.
Pam Laubenstein facilitated a Cash Fund Raiser to pay for the
players tickets to the Colts game. Each Varsity and Senior Team
player was asked to sell 20 $10 tickets. The players raised enough
money for their own tickets and two $500 prizes for the fans who
purchased the tickets. The fund raiser eased the financial burden
for the players so no one wanting to go would be left out.

Director of Lincoln Youth Football, Wesley Fuchs,
explained that this is the first year that Lincoln Youth Football
has been in the Junior Football League of Central IL out of Peoria.
The JFLOCI has a partnership with the Colts organization and sends
eight teams a year to a Colts game. “We were very, very blessed in
our first year of the program to be selected to go. This is an
opportunity for all the kids in the program to go to Indianapolis
during their football playing career. Now that we are in the
rotation we will go every two years.”
Check back with Lincoln Daily News next week for pictures and
results of game day.
