LINCOLN
Carolyn
Neal, Chairperson of the Harvest of Talents Ministry Team, has today
received confirmation from 87 year old Mitzi Maynard of the Maynard
Potato Farm, Clark, South Dakota, of the planned donation and
shipment of 350 50# bags and 160 20# bags of freshly dug red
potatoes. Scheduled to arrive in Lincoln in time for Harvest Day,
Saturday, October 28, the South Dakota potato shipment will be
available for purchase @$15.00 per 50 lb bag and $10.00 for the 20
lb bags. Volunteers will be on hand at the Harvest site on Harvest
Day to load the potatoes into vehicles.
Potatoes may be purchased for personal use or may be designated for
delivery to local food pantries and other charities. The Maynards
are the family of Karen Gerdts, wife of Tom Gerdts, who began a
ministry at Lincoln Christian Church shortly after the first Harvest
of Talents in 1984.

As supporters of International Disaster Emergency Service, they
have graciously donated potatoes from their farm for a number of years. All
proceeds from the Harvest of Talents are channeled through I.D.E.S. to meet
hunger needs worldwide.
Anyone having questions about the potato sales may contact the office of Lincoln
