Lincoln College students take awards at Broadcasters Conference
Student productions honored for Promotions and Longform Journalism

[October 23, 2017]  LINCOLN - Students in Lincoln College’s Radio, Television and New Media program placed in the Illinois Broadcaster’s Association Student Silver Dome awards at the Association’s student conference in Normal on Oct. 6th.

In the category of Best Radio/TV Promotional or Public Service Campaign, Lincoln College students Dylan Diemert, Meranda Vieregge and Nik Jackson earned third place for their “Radio, TV and New Media Degree Promo.” The segment promotes the school’s new bachelor’s degree program in Radio, Television and New Media. In the category of Best TV Longform Journalism Programming students Tess Bruni. Andrew Walker and Chris Garcia took third place for “A Closer Look at Creekside,” a segment that explores the College’s G. Dennis Campbell Creekside Outdoor Center for Environmental Education. In the category of Best Radio/TV Promotional or Public Service Campaign, students Dylan Diemert, Christian Lloyd, JD Keister and Henry Blackman earned second place for their “89x Special Olympics Polar Plunge Sponsorship.”

At the conference students attended sessions featuring topics of interest in the media industry. Professor John Malone, Division Chair for Communications and Fine Arts, moderated a panel discussion on employer expectations and Professor Deb Antoine, lead faculty for Radio, Television and New Media, moderated a panel discussion on women in media.

“The Lincoln College Radio, Television and New Media program is only in the beginning of its second year. We are very proud these students created videos judged as extraordinary after such a short time in the program. We are extremely lucky at Lincoln College to have state-of-the-art facilities where are students are allowed to gain hands-on experience, even during their first year,” Antoine said.
