10/26/2017 NHL Note - St. Louis Blues Steen, Alex
LW Alexander Steen had a goal and three assists, and the Blues beat
the Flames 5-2 on Wednesday night.
Steen's presence made a difference as he finally got his first
points of the season. He was playing in his fourth game after
breaking his hand in the Blues' preseason opener Sept. 19. "It was
tough having Steener have that injury because I thought he looked
really good in training camp," Blues coach Mike Yeo said. "He's a
step quicker this year. I thought he did a heck of a job in the
summer coming in in really good shape and you could tell that the
training, the focus he had in the summer, that he was a motivated
hockey player."

NHL Note - St. Louis Blues Stastny, Paul
C Paul Stastny contributed a goal and an assist, and the Blues beat
the Flames 5-2 on Wednesday night.

NHL Note - St. Louis Blues Allen, Jake
G Jake Allen made 23 saves Wednesday in the Blues' 5-2 win over the
Flames.

NHL Note - Calgary Flames Backlund, Mikael
C Mikael Backlund scored both Flames goals as Calgary lost 5-2 at
St. Louis on Wednesday. It was Backlund's 10th career multi-goal
game.

NHL Note - Calgary Flames Lack, Eddie
G Eddie Lack, playing for the first time this season, made 24 saves
in a 5-2 loss Wednesday. It was his first career defeat against the
Blues after winning his previous six games against St. Louis.
"I've definitely had some good games here and some games we had
really good team games when I've been here with other teams so it's
just one of those things," Lack said. "It's too bad we couldn't keep
the streak going."

NHL Note - Calgary Flames Tkachuk, Matthew
LW Matthew Tkachuk finished with a pair of assists for the Flames in
a 5-2 loss at St. Louis on Wednesday.

NHL Note - St. Louis Blues Prosser, Nate
D Nate Prosser and RW Beau Bennett made their debuts for the Blues.
Prosser was filling in for D Carl Gunnarsson, who became a father
Wednesday, and Bennett played on a line with LW Magnus Paajarvi and
C Oskar Sundqvist. Prosser finished with an even rating in 15:23 of
ice time against the Flames.

RW Beau Bennett and D Nate Prosser made their debuts for the Blues.
Bennett played on a line with LW Magnus Paajarvi and C Oskar
Sundqvist, and he had an even rating in 11:54 of ice time against

D Carl Gunnarsson, who became a father Wednesday, missed the
Wednesday night game against the Flames.

G Mike Smith earned career win No. 200 against the Predators on
Tuesday. He didn't play Wednesday at St. Louis.

NHL Note - Columbus Blue Jackets Bobrovsky, Sergei
G Sergei Bobrovsky rejected a point-blank shot by Sabres C Ryan
O'Reilly on a second-period breakaway with a sterling skate save.
The Blue Jackets responded with three goals in a three-minute span
later in the period, propelling them to a 5-1 victory on Wednesday.
Bobrovsky finished with 34 saves, but none bigger than the one on
O'Reilly. "I thought it was an important one for the game,"
Bobrovsky said. "The team needed it."

NHL Note - Columbus Blue Jackets Jones, Seth
D Seth Jones had a goal and an assist Wednesday in the Blue Jackets'
5-1 win over the Sabres.

NHL Note - Buffalo Sabres Johnson, Chad
G Chad Johnson made 33 saves Wednesday but wound up with a 5-1 loss
at Columbus.

NHL Note - Buffalo Sabres Girgensons, Zemgus
C Zemgus Girgensons returned after missing three games with a
lower-body injury. He finished a minus-1 in 14:37 of ice time
Wednesday at Columbus. Girgensons was hurt while blocking a shot
during a penalty kill against the Golden Knights on Oct. 17.

NHL Note - Columbus Blue Jackets Hannikainen, Markus
LW Markus Hannikainen, recalled from Cleveland of the AHL on
Tuesday, was a healthy scratch Wednesday.
