[October 29, 2017]  LINCOLN -  Samuel Lawrence "Larry" Hodge, 86, of Lincoln, passed away October 17, 2017, at The Christian Village.

Visitation:  5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home.

Service: Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home

Burial:  Friday at 10 a.m. in Camp Butler Cemetery, Springfield

Obituary

Samuel Lawrence "Larry" Hodge, 86, of Lincoln, passed away October 17, 2017, at The Christian Village.

Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Memorial visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. with Ryan Edgecombe officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 27, 2017, in Camp Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.

Larry was born June 11, 1931, in Rifle, Colorado, the son of Shiveral Frederick Hodge and Gladys (Johnson). He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Larry was a music lover and was a pianist in a country music band called the "Mustang Band." He loved to travel and to fly and at one time owned his own airplane. He loved life and enjoyed seeing nature. Larry loved to joke and had a big heart. He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Surviving is his longtime companion John Steiger of Lincoln, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara Williams.

Memorial donations may be made in his honor to the American Legion or to the VFW.
