The real intense match came on Thursday as the
Toppers hosted Olympia.
Mount Pulaski was trailing Olympia 3-1 with under two minutes to
play. Garrett Skelton scored a goal to make the score 3-2 as the
clock showed 1:05 left to play. Michael Freer then kicked the
ball over the goalie’s head and into the net with :15 seconds
showing on the clock. Freer’s goal led the fans into a frenzy
and the 3-3 tie delighted the hometown crowd.
Mount Pulaski will host Bluffs on Saturday.
