Ali Roate and Madi Koehler helped their team
with two doubles wins, and Madi Tanner had a win at #3 singles.
Lincoln played two home matches this week, losing to Mt. Zion
(7-2) and to Springfield High School (9-0).
“Mt. Zion is in the new conference, so we will see them again at
Conference Tournament later this month,” commented Coach Jan
Dickerson. “Again we were outdone by match experience and match
toughness. I give Madi Tanner credit for her 6-4, 6-4 win over
her Mt. Zion opponent, never giving up. And Madi Egnew had her
first varsity win this season with a 6-3, 7-5 score in singles.
It was the best I’ve seen her play. The team of Tanner/Brooke
Montcalm won their #4 doubles pro-set with a score of 10-7.”
“I was a little surprised by some of the Springfield scores on
Thursday. We were playing ‘backboard’ players in many cases, and
they outlasted us. Many of the games were close, but Springfield
took most of those games. It was good to see Julianne Funk play
well her second set in singles. And Grace Skelton really played
well and aggressively their second doubles set, even while
losing the match 6-1, 7-5 with teammate Funk. Grace’s play made
all the difference.”
Lincoln next three matches are away, against Pontiac, Southeast,
and Pekin.
