Those who were at Thursday night’s match with
the Mac Murray College JV squad were not disappointed by their
effort, as LC cruised to a 25-16, 25-8, 25-14 victory.
“We were sharp in all aspects of the game tonight,” said LC
Coach Mark Tippett. “It was a solid effort from start to
finish.”
The evening began on a positive note for the Lady Lynx as
sophomore left side hitter Kaylyn Hoffert (Lincoln) returned to
the starting lineup. Hoffert, who had been sidelined with an
ankle injury since August 25th, turned in a solid all-around
performance by tallying seven kills, five digs, and two service
points.
LC also got a boost from the strong serve of sophomore setter
Jenna Weller (Salt Fork). Weller led the team with ten service
points, six of them coming on aces. She also tied for the team
high in set assists with fellow sophomore Abbi Buelow
(Rockford). The setting duo recorded 14 set assists apiece.
Weller and Buelow were able to connect with each of the LC
hitters for kills. Freshman Maddie Malinowki led the team with
12, while sophomore Elysa Smith (Metamora) had seven and
sophomore Mikayla Siebert had five. Freshman libero Megan
Gilliam led the defensive effort with 14 digs and served six
points, two of them aces.
The win improves Lincoln’s record to 7-4 on the season. Lincoln
will be at home again on Saturday for a triangular set of
matches beginning at 9:00 AM when they take on Rend Lake
College. LC’s second match is scheduled for 1:00 PM against
Macomb Community College (MI).
