Sept 8 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Friday's Major League Baseball games:

Indians 5, Orioles 0

Edwin Encarnacion hit a three-run homer as the Cleveland Indians ran their team-record winning streak to 16 games with a 5-0 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Friday night.

Encarnacion hit his 34th homer in the first inning off Wade Miley. Carlos Santana added an RBI double while Francisco Lindor scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.

Mike Clevinger (9-5) allowed three hits in six innings for Cleveland, which posted its 17th shutout of the season.

Miley (8-12) allowed four runs and six hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Nationals 11, Phillies 10

Michael Taylor drove in a career-high five runs as Washington held on to beat Philadelphia.

Taylor hit an inside-the-park grand slam in the third inning and Trea Turner hit a two-run homer as Washington reduced its magic number for winning the Nationals League East to three.

Maikel Franco hit a three-run homer off Shawn Kelly in the ninth for the Phillies. Odubel Herrera extended his hitting streak to 21 games with an RBI infield single.

Washington starter Max Scherzer allowed four runs and six hits in six innings.

Red Sox 9, Rays 3

Mookie Betts his a three-run homer off Chris Archer as Boston routed Tampa Bay.

Betts slugged his 19th homer with nobody out in the first inning. Andrew Benintendi, Jackie Bradley Jr. and Hanley Ramirez highlighted a five-run fourth with RBI singles.

Drew Pomeranz (15-5) allowed two runs and two hits in six innings to become the American League's fourth 15-game winning. Archer (9-9) was tagged for eight runs and nine hits in three-plus innings.

Brewers 2, Cubs 0

Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer in the first inning as Milwaukee blanked Chicago in the first Friday night game in the history of Wrigley Field.

Braun hit his 300th career homer off John Lackey (11-11) as Milwaukee moved to within four games of Chicago.

Jimmy Nelson (12-6) pitched five innings and combined with three relievers on a five-hitter. Lackey allowed two runs and four hits, including his 33rd homer of the season.

Rangers 11, Yankees 5

Elvis Andrus hit the go-ahead two-run single in the fifth inning as Texas rallied to beat New York.

Andrus drove in three runs and Nomar Mazara hit his 19th homer as Texas overcame two four-run deficits.

Didi Gregorius homered and Masahiro Tanaka allowed five runs and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings for New York.

Cardinals 4, Pirates 1

Luke Weaver won his fifth straight decision and added an RBI single as surging St. Louis beat Pittsburgh.

Weaver (5-1) allowed seven singles as St. Louis won for the seventh time in nine games. He has 36 strikeouts in 25 1/3 innings during his five-game winning streak.

Pittsburgh's Trevor Williams (6-8) allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings.

Twins 8, Royals 5

Eddie Rosario drove in four runs and Ervin Santana picked up his 15th victory as Minnesota beat Kansas City.

Rosario hit his 21st homer of the season and Santana (15-7) allowed four runs and five hits in five innings.

Eric Hosmer hit his 24th homer for Kansas City.

Marlins 7, Braves 1

Jose Urena improved his road record to 9-1 as Miami beat Atlanta.

Derek Dietrich homered for Miami. Dee Gordon stole his 50th base and extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Freddie Freeman hit his 25th homer for Atlanta.

Tigers 5, Blue Jays 4

Nicholas Castellanos hit a grand slam and Jeimer Candelario started a triple play as Detroit edged Toronto.

Castellanos hit his grand slam in the third inning and three innings later Candelario started Detroit's first triple play in 16 years on a ground ball by Kevin Pillar.

Ian Kinsler also homered for Detroit. Richard Urena and Jose Bautista homered for Toronto.

Mets 5, Reds 1

Jose Reyes homered twice and New York beat Cincinnati.

Reyes hit a solo homer in the third inning and a two-run shot in the fifth. Travis Taijeron added his first career homer for the Mets.

New York's Seth Lugo allowed four hits in six innings. Cincinnati's Amir Garrett allowed four runs and five hits in five innings.

Giants 9, White Sox 2

Pablo Sandoval hit a three-run homer as San Francisco routed Chicago.

Sandoval ended a 0-for-39 skid in the fourth inning against Lucas Giolito. Denard Span also homered for the Giants and Brandon Crawford went 3-for-5.

San Francisco's Matt Moore allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings. Giolito allowed five runs (three earned) in 5 1/3 innings.

Padres 10, Diamondbacks 6

Manuel Margot had three hits and drove in four runs as San Diego ended Arizona's team record 13-game winning streak.

Margot hit a two-run triple in the fourth inning as San Diego opened an eight-run lead. He added a two-run single in the seventh.

Rey Fuentes and J.D Martinez homered as Arizona lost for the first time since Aug. 23.

Rockies 5, Dodgers 4

DJ LeMahieu hit the tiebreaking double in the fifth inning as Colorado beat slumping Los Angeles.

Charlie Blackmon hit an RBI double while Raimel Tapia hit a two-run double before LeMahieu's hit.

Justin Turner homered for the Dodgers, who dropped their eighth straight game and fell to 1-13 in their last 14 games.

Mariners 4, Angels 3

Ben Gamel hit a three-run homer as Seattle edged Los Angeles.

Gamel homered in the second inning off Ricky Nolasco (6-13). Mike Leake (2-0) allowed two earned runs in six innings in his second start for the Mariners.

Justin Upton hit a two-run double for the Angels while Nolasco allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings.

Athletics 9, Astros 8

Jed Lowrie singled with nobody out in the bottom of the ninth as Oakland beat Houston.

Boog Powell opened the ninth by hitting the game-tying homer off Ken Giles. Lowrie won it three batters later by lining a single to center field.

Jose Altuve, Yuli Gurriel and Josh Reddick homered for Houston.
