Blessing of the Animals Worship Service
Sunday,
October 1, 2017 - 5 p.m.
At 5 p.m. on
Sunday, October 1, 2017, pets and their owners are invited to attend
a special
‘Blessing of the Animals’ worship service in the parking lot of
First Presbyterian Church.
“All are welcome: cats and dogs, birds and sheep, amphibians and
even the church mouse!” said Reverend Adam Quine. “Oh, humans too!”
Animals are an integral part of God’s creation. They inhabit the
skies, the earth, and the sea. They share in the ways of human
beings. They have a part in our lives. Through singing and praying,
and of course, with a blessing, Rev. Quine will lead the gathering
in expressing gratitude to God for the gifts of creation, especially
our pets.
In the interest of safety, pets should be controlled on their
leashes, harnesses, or in their carriers. If pets are unable to
attend, their owners may bring photos or drawings of them (with
their names) instead.
For more information, contact First Presbyterian Church, 301 Pekin
St., Lincoln. Phone 732-6141 or email office@preslincoln.org.
