More
than twenty local members of the party gathered to hear him lay out
his plan for the future of Illinois.
J.B. Pritzker,
Democratic Party candidate for Illinois governor.
Mr.
Pritzker focused on what he is doing to win his party’s nomination
for governor in the March 20, 2018 primary, and what it would take
to defeat Governor Bruce Rauner in next November’s general election.
He stressed that building a communication network throughout the
state to get his message out, and to assist down ballot democrats to
be successful in their races is vital to a successful campaign. To
that end, he stated that he has an organizer in every county in
Illinois to assist his campaign, and to gather the 5,000 necessary
signatures for his petitions.
Pritzker’s main campaign issues are to boost job creation, increase
school funding, pay off the enormous state debt, and to improve
health care for everyone who cannot afford it.

“A progressive income tax
is the only way to achieve these goals,” he stated. “Illinois is
one of the few states in the country to have an unfair
regressive income tax, which is currently the case,” he added.
Rebecca Drake stated that the Illinois Democratic County Chair
Association will meet on Sunday, October 7, 2017 to select a
candidate to endorse for the 2018 Democratic Party primary on
March 20. The winner of the primary will take on current
Republican governor Bruce Rauner.
