Belgium's David Goffin continued his strong run at the Shenzhen Open in China with a 6-2, 6-3 win over eighth-seeded American Donald Young in the quarterfinals.

The second-seeded Goffin, who has yet to drop a set in the tournament, took advantage of nine double faults by Young and needed just 64 minutes to book his spot in the semis. Goffin is trying to secure his first tournament win of the year.

"I was moving really well. I served also really well from the start," Goffin told reporters. "I was really aggressive. And I finished really well. I'm really happy the way I played today."

Goffin will take on the lone unseeded player left in the field in Switzerland's Henri Laaksonen, who battled for a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over Chinese qualifier Zhizhen Zhang. Laaksonen had his serve broken early in the third set but recovered to finish strong by winning the final five games.

Bosnia-Herzegovina's Damir Dzumhur will take on Ukraine's Alexandr Dolgopolov in the other semifinal.

The sixth-seeded Dzumhur earned a 6-4, 7-5 win over top-seeded German Alexander Zverev in his quarterfinal. Dzumhur was down 4-1 in the second set before taking six of the final seven games.

Dolgopolov, seeded fifth, was locked in a battle before Israel's Dudi Sela retired down 0-1 in the third set with a forearm strain. Dolgopolov ended up with a 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 triumph to set up his first career meeting with Dzumhur.
