Obituary
Wayne Ackerman ,64, passed away at
9:42 p.m. on March 26, 2018 at Memorial Medical
Center in Springfield.
Wayne was born on August 21, 1953 in Lincoln, son of
Donald Dean and Evelyn Ethel (Wright) Ackerman. He
married Debra Dee Mills Butts on June 1, 2002 at
Weldon Springs State Park in Clinton. She preceded
him in death on May 15, 2012.
Surviving Wayne are his step children: Adam (Kelly)
Butts of Effingham, and Amy (Chris) Davenport of
Lincoln; three grandchildren: Lilly, Isaac, and Ian;
one brother: Ron (Deb) Ackerman of Lincoln, and one
sister: Susie (David) Starkel of Show Low, AZ;
nephews: Chris (Katelyn) Ackerman, Craig (Ellen)
Ackerman, Mike Starkel, and one niece: Missy Starkel;
two brothers-in-law: David (Paula) Mills and Daniel
(Sharon) Mills both of Clinton. He was preceded in
death by his parents.

Wayne retired from Abraham Lincoln
Memorial Hospital as Plant Operations Foreman after
35 years of service. He was a member of the
Rail-splitter Antique Auto Club. Wayne was one of
the founding members of the morning coffee club at
Mama’s Arcade Café. He loved spending time with
family and friends and hosting the annual peanut
brittle tradition.
A memorial service for Wayne will be held at 2:00
p.m. Friday March 30, 2018 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln with
Ron Otto officiating. Visitation will be two hours
prior to service (12:00-2:00 p.m.).
Memorials may be made in Wayne’s name to Dewitt
County 4-H or Springfield Memorial Home Services
Hospice.
