The Dallas Mavericks were a big
winner as the NBA conducted random drawings to break several ties
that could determine positioning in the draft.
Dallas won a tiebreaker over the Atlanta Hawks to secure the third
pre-lottery position. The Mavericks will have a 13.8 percent chance
of winning the No. 1 overall pick, while the Hawks are just behind
at 13.7 percent.
If no team moves forward in the lottery, Dallas will pick at No. 3
with Atlanta selecting one spot later. Both teams finished 24-58
this season.
Meanwhile, the Chicago Bulls won a tiebreaker for the No. 6
pre-lottery position ahead of the Sacramento Kings. Both teams
finished 27-55 this season.
The Bulls and Kings each have a 5.3 percent chance to land the top
pick.
Beyond the lottery, the Miami Heat won a tiebreaker for the 16th
pick, which they will send to the Phoenix Suns as part of a previous
deal. Milwaukee will pick No. 17 after losing the random drawing to
Miami.

The San Antonio Spurs won a tiebreaker against the Minnesota
Timberwolves for the No. 18 pick. Atlanta will receive Minnesota's
pick at No. 19.
The final tiebreaker determined the No. 20 draft spot for the
Oklahoma City Thunder (will be sent to Minnesota); No. 21 to the
Utah Jazz; No. 22 to the New Orleans Pelicans (will be sent to
Chicago); and No. 23 to the Indiana Pacers.
The draft is set for June 21 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
