Memorial Health System Earns National Honor for Learning Commitment

SPRINGFIELD

Memorial Health System was the highest ranked health system to receive a national award for its commitment to learning innovation.

The nonprofit health system received a LearningElite gold award from Chief Learning Officer magazine. Memorial was ranked 21st in the nation from a field of several hundred applicants and also received the award for Best Mid-Sized Company.

The LearningElite award recognizes organizations that surpass benchmark standards for putting into practice workforce learning and development strategies.

"It is obvious that your organization truly values developing employees," one judge wrote. Another judge observed the "institution's commitment to excellence through training and development is strong and simply awesome. … One gets a sense that there is a long-term commitment to individual employee success and organization excellence."

Memorial Health System has won the Learning Elite award every year since 2015.

“This recognition as the top health system in the country showcases our commitment to ensuring we provide each of our employees the opportunity to learn and grow in their professions,” said Aimee Allbritton, the health system’s vice president of organization development and chief learning officer.

“Earning the LearningElite gold award validates Memorial Health System’s commitment to developing the skills and knowledge of our employees and is a testament to the professionals who provide educational opportunities to our employees,” Allbritton said. “The Memorial Center for Learning and Innovation reinforces our commitment to workforce learning and provides extensive educational opportunities in a learner-centered environment.”

Developed under the guidance of chief learning officers and senior workforce development practitioners, LearningElite recognizes excellence in five key performance indicators: learning strategy, learning impact, leadership commitment, learning execution and business performance results.

Other top performers this year included AT&T, Nationwide, New York Life Insurance Co. and Hewlett Packard.
