Republican Senator Paul changes mind, will back Pompeo nomination

[April 24, 2018]  WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republican Senator Rand Paul said on Monday he will support CIA Director Mike Pompeo's nomination to be U.S. secretary of state, changing his position as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee gathered to vote on Pompeo.

"I have decided to support his nomination to be our next Secretary of State," Paul said on Twitter.

With Paul's support, Pompeo is expected to be approved by the committee on a party-line vote of 11-10.
