[April 25, 2018]  A golfer from Nepal whose devotion to the game came from up close -- living in a shed along a course in her native country -- received some private tutoring from Tiger Woods on Tuesday, according to ESPN.

Eighteen-year-old Pratima Sherpa was in New York over the weekend for a documentary premiere about her life in Nepal, and thanks to two people from ESPN and a donor to the Tiger Woods Foundation, she visited with Woods in Jupiter, Flda. Woods lives in Jupiter and was giving a private clinic nearby.

Woods heard about the girl, who aims to be the first female professional golfer from Nepal, more than a year ago in a story that appeared in Golf Digest.

He wrote to her at the Royal Nepal Golf Club, where Sherpa's parents are laborers. Sherpa has lived her whole life in the shed at the third hole of the course. She was even born there.

"The letter I received from Tiger inspires me to play well," she said Tuesday, according to ESPN. "I was surprised to receive the letter. Everyone knew about it but me."

Sherpa used Woods' clubs to practice at the back of the driving range, getting some tips to add length to her shots.

"It's special she was here for a day with my foundation," Woods said, according to ESPN. "It demonstrated to all of us what hard work and belief in yourself can accomplish. The story of her journey is inspiring. We can all learn from what she's done."
