Obituary
Jerry J. Melton, 76, of New Holland,
passed away at 4:45 a.m. at St. Clara's Manor in
Lincoln.
Funeral services for Mr. Melton will be on Friday,
April 27, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Peasley Funeral
Home in Lincoln. Burial will follow at Lucas Chapel
Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 26, 2018, from
5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Peasley Funeral
Home.
Jerry J. Melton was born February 20, 1942, in
Lincoln, the son of Henry D. and LaMoyne Fletcher
Melton. He married Rosemary Seitzer on August 23,
1960. She survives.
Jerry is also survived by their son: Jerry (Ann)
Melton; three grandchildren: Rachel (Dave Irwin)
Lessen, Jason (Amanda) Melton, and Rhiannon
Hoagland; six great-grandchildren: Ashlyn, Scotty,
Lucas, Beau, Emma, and Zelda; and one brother:
William "Bill" (Linda) Melton. |
He was preceded in death by his
parents, and one brother, Duane Melton.
Jerry was a graduate of Lincoln Community High
School. He was a deputy with the Logan County Sheriff's Department
from 1977 until 2005. He also worked for the San Jose Police
Department. Jerry was a member of the Lincoln Christian Church,
Lincoln REACT, and Lincoln Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 78.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Logan County or Logan
County Animal Rescue.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Peasley Funeral Home of
Lincoln.
