Golden State Warriors guard
Stephen Curry took part in his first 5-on-5 scrimmage Friday since
injuring his left knee, though his status for the team's
second-round series opener against the New Orleans Pelicans remains
up in the air.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr told reporters a decision on Curry would
be made after seeing how the guard feels Saturday morning following
two days on the court. Kerr said Thursday that Curry went through
the entirety of the day's practice and had no issues with his
sprained MCL.
''A big part of this is how he turns up tomorrow after a night's
rest,'' Kerr said. ''It's the first time he's scrimmaged in six
weeks, five weeks, whatever it is. It's not as simple as he feels
good, throw him out there. It's more about give him a few days, see
how he responds from there.''
For his part, Curry, who has missed the team's past 15 games,
including all five games of the first-round series with the San
Antonio Spurs, had no complaints following Friday's work.
''I'm getting there,'' Curry said. ''My knee feels pretty good. I
don't have any pain with doing things I've been doing.''
Curry is listed as questionable for Saturday's game.

''Still to be determined,'' he said of playing. ''They come up with
those snazzy words for a reason -- doubtful, questionable, probable.
I've learned a lot about what those words mean this year. Just
trying to work my way up, do what I need to do, do whatever Chelsea
(Lane) and the rest of the athletic training staff and coach needs
to see to get me back out there. That's the only thing I can really
focus on right now. It is good to be back actually playing
basketball and doing basketball things.''
Curry, who wore compression leggings Friday to help protect his
injured knee, said he won't push Kerr to play him in Game 1.
''There's no real politicking at all, it's not that serious," Curry
said. "It's a matter of how you feel, can you do this, can you do
that and check off all the boxes along the way. Once I get through
all those checkpoints and have confidence in myself and my body I'll
be out there, whether that's tomorrow night or Monday or Tuesday,
whenever Game 2 is, that's the process that I'm all too familiar
with.''
