THIS WEEK: The series' second of three trips to a road course this
season, the drivers get to turn both left and right for a change.
... This is the 22nd of 36 races this season. ... The perfect car
setup is not possible on such a diverse track, but some drivers are
better than others of making good use of what they have, and that
favors this season's "big three" of Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and
Martin Truex Jr., who have six wins, six and four respectively. ...
This will be the 36th race at The Glen dating back to 1957, with the
race becoming a permanent fixture in 1986. ... Truex won here last
season. Busch has won twice and Harvick once in their careers at The
Glen. ... Among winless drivers to watch is A.J. Allmendinger, who

first of four trips to a road course. ... This will be the 25th
series race at the track dating back to 1991. ... The last full-time
series driver to win here was Marcos Ambrose in 2008 and he went on
to win three other times as a full-time Cup driver. ... Kyle Busch
won this race last year, with Logano the two before that. ... The
lumbering Xfinity cars will be good practice for many Cup drivers
ahead of Sunday's race. ... Rookie Christopher Bell won last week at
Iowa, his fourth victory of the season. ... *Bell leads the
standings with 702 points, followed by Elliott Sadler (686), Cole
Custer (684), Daniel Hemric (679), *Justin Allgaier (650), Brandon

THIS WEEK: The Trucks take a week off having run 14 of 23 races this
season, with Kyle Busch winning last week at Pocono. The
highest-finishing series driver was Dalton Sargeant in third. ...
*Johnny Sauter leads the Truck standings (587 points), followed by
*Noah Gragson (522), Grant Enfinger (504), Stewart Friesen (495),
*Brett Moffitt (485), Matt Crafton (465), *Justin Haley (462), *Ben
Rhodes (456), Myatt Snider (371) and Cody Coughlin (356). Only eight
drivers make the playoffs in the series.

VERIZON INDYCAR SERIES
THIS WEEK: The series takes two weeks off before heading to Pocono
Raceway on Aug. 19 having run 13 of 17 races so far. ... Alexander
Rossi won the race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course last week to help
tighten up the championship race. ... It is still Scott Dixon's
championship to lose as the New Zealander leads the standings (494
points), followed by Rossi (448), Josef Newgarden (434), Australia's
Will Power (407) and Ryan Hunter-Reay (399).
FORMULA ONE
THIS WEEK: It is time for the long summer break after 12 of 21 races
this season until racing resumes at the Belgian Grand Prix on Aug.
26. ... Great Britain's Lewis Hamilton got a little breathing room
in the championship race with a win in Hungary last week, but his
nemesis Sebastian Vettel of Germany finished second, albeit over 17
seconds adrift. ... Barring an injury, the series is down to a
two-man race for the title between the two four-time champions. ...
Hamilton leads the standings in his Mercedes with 213 points,
followed by Vettel, Ferrari (189), Finland's Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari
(146), Finland's Valterri Bottas, Mercedes (132) and Australia's
Daniel Ricciardo, Red Bull (118).
NATIONAL HOT ROD ASSOCIATION: CATSPOT NHRA NORTHWEST NATIONALS,

event in as many weeks, heading for Pacific Raceways outside

Hight taking Funny Car, Jeg Coughlin Jr. winning in Pro Stock and LE
Tonglet finishing on top in Pro Stock Motorcycle. ... Steve Torrence
leads the Top Fuel standings (1,168 points), followed by Tony
Schumacher (1,031), Clay Millican (1,025), Leah Pritchett (989) and
Doug Kalitta (951) rounding out the top five. ... Courtney Force
