Connaughton's deal is expected to be for two
years with just the first guaranteed, according to the Milwaukee
Journal Sentinel.
In an additional move not officially announced by the team,
Milwaukee placed point guard Brandon Jennings on waivers,
multiple outlets reported.
Per the Journal Sentinel, Jennings' contract faced an Aug. 1
deadline to become guaranteed after he returned to the NBA for
his ninth season following an abbreviated stint in China that
lasted just five months.
The 25-year-old Connaughton appeared in all 82 games for the
Portland Trail Blazers last season, averaging career-highs with
5.4 points and 2.0 rebounds per game while playing in 18.1
minutes per contest -- the first time in his three-year career
he surpassed 10 minutes per game in a season.
His 3-point shooting percentage dropped from 51.5 percent in
2016-17 to 35.2 last season, albeit with much more volume. For
his career, Connaughton has knocked down 36.4 percent of his
3-point attempts while averaging 3.7 points and 1.6 rebounds.
"Pat is a talented wing player with a tremendous work ethic and
great character," Bucks general manager Jon Horst said in a
statement. "We believe he will continue to grow and develop his
skills working with Coach Bud and his staff. We are excited to
welcome him to the Bucks organization and we know he will be a
positive addition to our roster both on and off the court."
Connaughton was originally picked in the second round of the
2015 NBA Draft by Brooklyn and traded in a draft night deal to
the Blazers along with Mason Plumlee for Steve Blake and the
draft rights to Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
Jennings, 28, shunned college out of high school to play a
season abroad in Italy before declaring for the 2009 NBA Draft,
where the Bucks picked him in the first round (No. 10 overall).
He averaged over 15 points in each of his first five seasons in
the NBA despite surpassing 40 percent shooting only once in that
span (2011-12).
After four seasons with the Bucks, Jennings was traded to
Detroit in July 2013 and spent his next two-plus seasons with
the Pistons, who dealt him to the Orlando Magic in Feb. 2016.
After being a starting point guard for his first six seasons,
Jennings primarily came off the bench the ensuing two seasons
from 2015-17 for the Pistons, Magic, New York Knicks and
Washington Wizards.
Late last season, Jennings returned to the Bucks on a pair of
10-day deals before inking a multi-year deal on April 1.
For his nine-year career, Jennings has averaged 14.1 points and
5.7 assists per game.
