Langford, 32, last played for the Houston Texans but appeared in just one game in November before being waived. He had previously been released by the New Orleans Saints after a three-day stint in September.

Langford missed over half of 2016 with the Indianapolis Colts and played in just seven games due to a knee injury, a year after he had seven sacks in 16 starts for Indy.

A third-round pick by Miami in 2008, Langford had 141 tackles, 7.5 sacks and nine passes defensed through four seasons with the Dolphins before a three-year stint with the then-St. Louis Rams and two years with the Colts. He has 22.5 sacks and 21 passes defensed in 136 games (113 starts) over 10 NFL seasons.

The Dolphins opened a roster spot Monday by waiving defensive tackle Gabe Wright, hours after Wright reportedly blindsided running back Kenyan Drake -- who did not have a helmet on -- with an elbow during a testy practice.
