Obituary
Bill R. Gaither, 88, of Atlanta,
passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15,
2018, at his home.
Memorial Services for Mr. Gaither will be held on
Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at
Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta. Mr. Maurice
Stribling will officiate.
A time of visitation with his family will be held at
the funeral home on Aug. 28, 2018, from 10:00 a.m.
until the time of the service.
Cremation Rites have been accorded.
Billie "Bill" Ray Gaither was born April 17, 1930,
in Normal, the son of Clyde Melvin and Helen Lucille
Tucker Gaither. He married Edna Brooks in Atlanta in
1949. She preceded him in death Nov. 20, 2016.
Bill is survived by his daughter:
Julie (Gary) Frantz of Atlanta; five grandsons:
Jason (Maddie) Frantz of Atlanta, David L. (Ashley)
Gaither of Atlanta, Alex Frantz of Bloomington,
Jordan (Taylor) Gaither of Tremont, and Kyle Gaither
of Atlanta; and two brothers: Joe (Charlotte)
Gaither of Atlanta and Ronnie (Carolyn) Gaither of
Morton. |
He was preceded in death by his wife;
one son, David Gaither; and one infant grandson,
Michael Gaither.
Bill was a graduate of Atlanta High School and
served in the United States Marines. He worked as a
bricklayer and belonged to Bricklayer and Allied
Craftworkers Local 19. He was also a member of
Atlanta American Legion Post #341.
Memorials may be made to OSF Hospice or Community
Cancer Center in Normal.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home of Atlanta.
