 Beginning in the Spring 2019 semester, Heartland will
be offering on-site education courses at Clinton Power Station for
Exelon Generation employees looking to complete an Associate in
Applied Science – Industrial Technology degree.
“By partnering with Heartland, we are creating a pipeline of
employees who can grow their career at Clinton and lead us into the
future,” said Clinton Power Station Site Vice President Ted Stoner.
“With on-site college course offerings and customized programming,
our employees will have another option to balance the demands of
work while gaining professional development with an accelerated
degree.”
Stoner said Clinton is looking for a class size of at least ten
employees starting in January of 2019.
The partnership was formalized with the signing of a customized
program agreement at the Heartland Board of Trustees meeting on
August 21.
Advisors from Heartland will be on-site for an informational session
in Clinton to help interested individuals answer any questions about
returning to school including information about financial aid and
Veterans Benefits.

“Establishing community partnerships is a vital part of
Heartland’s mission to meet the emerging needs of the workforce through
education and workforce training programs,” said Heartland President Keith
Cornille. “With this partnership Exelon will not only bolster a workforce of
homegrown talent, but they will also be making an investment in the economic
welfare of the regional economy.”
Through the program students will be able to earn an AAS-IT degree as well as up
to four skills certificates including Industrial Maintenance, Industrial
Technology, Renewable Energy and Electricity.
Heartland has also arranged for a transfer agreement with Thomas Edison College
and Excelsior University for students who complete the AAS-IT degree but want to
continue their education to receive a bachelor’s degree.
