[August 23, 2018]   LINCOLN - It's a hot August evening and it's 'Third Friday Downtown.' Momma is pulling her four kids in a wagon, three bicyclers ride down the street and a chihuahua is hangin' out a truck window, all going to join the fun downtown.

When you round the corner, there it is! A children's delight of three water slides generously provided by Monty Deny. There is a blue double slide, a rainbow colored slide and a tubular box shaped slide with a t-pee. A fire hydrant of spraying zooming water was raining on children playing everywhere.

It is an evening of great social interaction for the whole family and there is something for everyone.

Vendors such as www.lincubate.org,  who help young teens learn early on about technology was there. Representatives from Heartland College, and Castle Manor were there.

Kids could ride free on a hydraulic mini airplane sponsored by Heritage In Flight.

Local artist Jason Hoffman provided a giant board for kids to paint on and express themselves with the many bright colors of pink, blue, green, and orange of his art pallet. Contact the Lincoln Art Institute to find out about Jason's next creative painting with wood boards in September.

At the opposite end of the street the Harmony Grits band played Country and Blues music. You could swing on their energetic and lively tune of La Bamba. Featured band members were Polly Sampson on bass and vocals, Kara Farmer on vocals, and Pam Kilmer on vocals. Then Everett, a band member, got up and sang something new to all.

What a fun Friday event; cookies for 50 cents and cotton candy for a dollar. A hometown of fun for the children to enjoy.
