			 [August 24, 2018]
The Lincoln College fall sports programs are set to begin
competition this weekend as members of the National Association of
			Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
First-year Athletic Director Mark Perdue is looking forward to the
energy that competing at the varsity level will bring to campus.
“This is a big step for the college and our department,” said
Perdue. “Our coaches have worked hard to prepare their teams for the
challenges ahead and the campus is excited about supporting them,”
			he added.

The first team to compete this season will be the Women’s Volleyball
team as they head to Chicago for a two-day event hosted by Robert
Morris University. The Lady Lynx will take on NAIA opponents
Graceland College (IA) and Trinity International University (IL) on
Friday. On Saturday, the team will face St. Mary of the Woods
College (IN) and William Penn University (IA).

LC Head Coach Mark Tippett believes his team is ready for the
challenge. “We have had a strong pre-season, and I know our players
are excited to play a real match.” said Tippett. “We are a bit
short-handed right now due to some injuries, but I am confident we
			will compete well this weekend.”

The varsity volleyball team will play their first home match of the
season at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 28th against Judson University.

The LC Men’s Soccer team will play their first official match of the
season at home on Monday, August 27th. Lynx will host St. Francis
			University (IL) at 3:00 PM.
Men’s Soccer Coach Ben Massena likes what he has seen from his squad
as they head into the season.

“We have trained hard and played very well in scrimmages against
other varsity teams,” Massena said. “St. Francis will be a great
test for us right away as they are coming off a strong season and
should be one of the top ranked teams in their conference again this
			year.”
Other Lincoln sports to begin play in the weeks to come include
Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, and the Men’s and
			Women’s Golf teams.
