            | Toys for Tots is a nationwide organization with its roots in the
military. In 1947, the Los Angeles Marine Corp Reserve unit
collected and distributed the first toys for needy children. The
program quickly expanded nationwide with Marine Corp Reserve units
distributing an average of sixteen million toys annually.
Donna Gaydosh is the local Toys for Tots secretary treasurer, having
been involved with her husband Jay for over twenty years. Jay is a
Marine Corp veteran and currently serves as the overall Coordinator
			for the local group.

“Our goal is to ensure that every child wakes up Christmas morning
to a present under the tree just like any other kid,” says Gaydosh.
“Every child simply deserves a toy.”
Twenty years ago, seventy-five Logan County children received gifts. Last year
that number reached 800+. The effort to collect normally begins October 1 every
year. “We are excited to be a part of the Marine Corp Reserve efforts to provide
toys to the children in our community and surrounding Logan County,” says
Lincoln Family Theater Operations Manager Marilyn Altman. “We want to fill this
place.” “For us, this is an opportunity for ministry. Once again God has opened
a door for the theater to reach out to those in our community, through cinema.”
“We see this ministry partnership as one we will do for years to come.”

Local Marine Corp Reserves, in dress blues, will attend the fund raiser to open
doors and greet our guests. Those attending the Toys for Tots movie fund raiser
are asked to bring a child’s toy ($10 minimum) in exchange for admission to the
movie. Several area business, organizations, individuals, and families will be
acting as sponsors for the event.
