Obituary
Rowena M. Bennett, 71, passed away at
3:27 p.m. on Saturday November 17, 2018 at her home.
Rowena was born on November 21, 1946 in Alton, IL;
daughter of Charles and Patricia (Walters) Bruns.
She married James P. Bennett Sr. on March 5, 1966 in
Alton. He survives her.
Also surviving Rowena are her children: Christine
(Steve) Schilling , Jake (Bridgitt) Bennett, and
Chad Bennett all of Lincoln; one daughter-in-law:
Jami Bennett of Lincoln; her siblings: Terry
(Theresa) Bruns of Nevada, Dennis (Linda) Bruns of
Lincoln, Kim (Marilee) Bruns of Pennsylvania,
Candace Slimick of Lincoln and Dwayne Bruns of
Virginia; thirteen grandchildren, ten
great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one
brother, Charles Bruns Jr; one son, Jude Anthony
Bennett and one daughter, Jude Marie Bennett.

She was a member of Holy Family
Catholic Church, where she was very faithful and
active. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, and
especially enjoyed spending time with family and
friends.
A funeral mass for Rowena will be 10:00 a.m.
November 30, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church
with Rev. Jeffrey Laible officiating. There will be
no visitation. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery will be
held at a later date.
At the family’s request, in lieu of flowers
memorials may be made in Rowena’s name to St. Jude’s
Children’s Hospital.
Services are entrusted to Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln.
