The Lincoln Railers hosted Mattoon on Tuesday night and had little trouble handling the Green Wave. The Railers Varsity 62-46 win over Mattoon kept the overall season record perfectly intact at 5-0 and 2-0 in the Apollo Conference.

Lincoln’s Jermaine Hamlin had a double-double (18 points and 11 rebounds) and Kaden Froebe hit double-digits in scoring with 13 points for the Railers.

Hamlin led the Railers to a 16-11 first quarter lead, as he poured in nine points, including one rim-rattling dunk. A three from Whiteman, a putback from Dylan Singleton and a layup from Noah Funk were the other Railer points in the first quarter.

Lincoln ran the lead up to 27-14 in the second quarter. Hamlin had his second dunk of the game, on another one of those signature Froebe passes, to start the scoring in the quarter.

Landon Hullinger came off the bench to drain a three for Lincoln and it was Whiteman and Will Ewald also connecting from behind the arc to show the Tuesday crowd this would be an early night.

Dreyden Pozsgai also tossed in a basket while moving through the lane for Lincoln.

Finally to round out the first half, a steal by the Railers resulted in Singleton making a nice move to the basket and ending with a kiss off the glass as the clock ran out. The Railers ran off to the locker room with a 31-20 lead and this game was moving right along.

Froebe fired up the crowd in the third quarter with his back-to-back threes that pushed the Railers ahead 37-20.

After Singleton rattled the rim for two points in the lane, Lincoln was breezing through the Green Wave 39-23.

Froebe’s third three of the quarter was nothing but net and a 42-25 lead was the result.

Ewald would score the final five points of the quarter for Lincoln and at the end of three quarters the Railers were up 47-30.

The Railers are ready to take on the Green Wave from Mattoon.

Hamlin led the fourth quarter scoring with another nine points.

The game moved quickly with Froebe making a couple drives to the basket.

Once the Railers stretched the lead to 62-42, the starters came out and the bench came in. Mattoon scored a couple times at the end of the game and that would allow the final score to be settled at 62-46.

Lincoln is now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Apollo Conference.

Mattoon falls to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Apollo Conference.

The Railers will travel to Effingham Friday night to take on the Flaming Hearts.
