Obituary
Yvonne E. Rogers, 77, of Lincoln,
passed away November 30, 2018 at Memorial Medical
Center.
A Memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 PM
Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Holland Barry &
Bennett Funeral Home, Lincoln. A Celebration of Life
will follow at 7 PM. Cremation rites will be
accorded and burial will be at a later date in Camp
Butler National Cemetery, Springfield.
Yvonne was born 1-24-41 in Aurora IL., the daughter
of Howard and Virginia (Buhr) Dilley. She proudly
served her country in the United States Army from
1959-1963, earning the rank of SP4. While stationed
in Fort Dix, NJ, she met fellow soldier William
Rogers. Their love story resulted in a loving
marriage of 56 years. Yvonne retired from Lincoln
Developmental Center after serving in the dietary
department for several years.
She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
She enjoyed baking cookies and pies, especially with
her grandchildren. She loved being a mother, but she
really took great joy in being a grandma. She was a
snowman collector, even though she disliked the cold
of winter. She enjoyed anything tropical, loved the
beach, and her favorite place was Aruba with her
husband. |
Casual dress is suggested for the
service. Please feel free to honor Yvonne by wearing
something Cubs or Tropical themed.
Surviving are her husband William Rogers, daughters:
Robin Barton, Theresa Adkisson, and Sharon (Bruce)
Tinsman; grandchildren: Elizabeth (Nate) Andrew,
Samuel (Bailey), Emily, Hayley, Ben, Clare; great
granddaughter Jane on the way; and sister Diana
Bradway.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to
the Women's Memorial Fund in Washington DC and will
be accepted at the funeral home.
