Obituary
Dorothy Giordano was called home to
the Lord on November 23, 2018 at her home in
Roseville, CA.
Born April 2, 1928 to Walter J. and Nelva (Dierker)
Schroeder in Lincoln, IL. Dorothy grew up on a farm
and graduated from Lincoln Community High School in
1945.
She is the eldest of four siblings. She is survived
by her daughter Susan and husband Chris Mogensen;
two grandsons, Brady and Kyle Mogensen, her brother,
Wilferd Schroeder of Raleigh, NC, several nieces and
nephews; cousins Laverda Taylor and JoAnne Marlin in
Lincoln, Norman Schroeder of Plymouth, WI, Marvin
Schroeder of Springfield and Lowell Schroeder of
Morton.
Preceding her in death are her parents Walter J. and
Nelva (Dierker) Schroeder, her son Roger Giordano.
Her sister, Marilyn Hickman and brother Loren Dale
Schroeder.
She worked as a secretary for State Farm Insurance
in Bloomington, IL and moved to California in the
1960's. She met the love of her life, Rocci Giordano
and was married at Lake Tahoe in 1965. They adopted
two children, Roger and Susan. She was very involved
in school, church and community activities and went
back to work as a legal secretary when the children
were in junior high. She loved singing and was also
an avid golf and tennis player. She was never
happier than when she was “singing for the Lord.”
The celebration of life for Dorothy will be Tuesday,
December 4, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Community Church
in Roseville, CA. |
