Lady Toppers JV defeats Springfield Lutheran 35-29
Varsity falls to Springfield Lutheran 53-50

The Lady Toppers traveled to Springfield Thursday night to take on the Crusaders of Springfield Lutheran. The Lady Toppers Varsity came up just a bit short despite a 23-point effort by Skylar Hayes.

The game was back and forth from the start with the hosts taking a 12-11 first quarter lead.

At the half the Crusaders were in front 28-25 and the crowd was loving the action.

The hot matchup between these two teams only intensified in the third quarter, with the Crusaders edging the Lady Toppers 43-41.

Late in the fourth quarter, with the hosts up by two points, Mount Pulaski had possession of the ball. Hayes penetrated the lane, had contact, but no call was made by the officials and the ball went to the Crusaders.

Down by three points with less than six seconds on the clock, the Lady Toppers made a steal and got off a buzzer-beater but it was no good. The Lady Toppers lose a heartbreaker 53-50 to the Crusaders.

Skylar Hayes led all scorers with 23 points. Savanah Moore dropped in 10 points. Morgan May contributed 9 points and Isabella Wade had 8 points.

The Lady Toppers put on a rebounding clinic with May bringing down 10, Abigail Fitzpatrick 9, Moore and Hayes each had 8 and Wade pulled down 6 rebounds.

Mount Pulaski's record falls to 5-4.

Mount Pulaski's JV team won 35-29 over Springfield Lutheran.

Mount Pulaski will take on Blue Ridge Monday night on the road. JV tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. with Varsity to follow.
