Expansion list ready for FC Cincinnati

[December 11, 2018]  FC Cincinnati, after signing five players Monday ahead of its Major League Soccer debut next season, will pad its roster Tuesday afternoon when the league holds an expansion draft.

Cincinnati can select up to five players from the unprotected pool of players during the five-round draft. Only one player can be drafted from any team.

Among the names on the unprotected list are Dairon Asprilla (Portland Timbers), Ashley Cole (Los Angeles Galaxy), Kei Kamara (Vancouver Whitecaps), Sacha Kljestan (Orlando City), Jeff Larentowicz (Atlanta United), Liam Rigdewell (Portland Timbers), Bacary Sagna (Montreal Impact) and Reto Ziegler (FC Dallas).

Five teams are exempt from the draft because they had players picked by Los Angeles FC during the 2017 expansion draft. They are the Columbus Crew, San Jose Earthquakes, Seattle Sounders, Sporting Kansas City and Toronto FC.

The other teams were allows to include pending free agents on their list of available players. However, if Cincinnati select a pending free agent, the player doesn't have to go and can sign with any team he wants.
