New Girls Basketball tournament coming to Lincoln this weekend
Girl’s All-State Junior High Classic debuts at Lincoln College

Lincoln College will host over one-hundred forty girls from junior high teams across the State of Illinois on December 15th-16th.

The girl’s All-State Junior High Classic was created to reward and recognize some of the top junior high players in the state! We believe it will be a great source of pride, motivation and FUN! This weekend’s event will boast players from twenty out of the thirty-two teams that played in the IESA State Tournament. There are twenty-three participants who are playing for an 8th state championship, and over fifteen participants playing for third place game throughout the four classes on Thursday, December 13th.

Players were selected based on IESA participation, their performance in the state tournament last year as 7th graders in 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A, coach nominations for top seeded teams this season in 1A, 2A, 3A and 4A, geography (larger towns have nominations for each school) and administrator nominations.

Teams were formed based on same school (if registered early), geography (area schools that were closest), when registration was received and lastly height. Teams will be coached by many of the state’s top junior high coaches with state tournament appearances.

The people of Logan County will certainly recognize some of the players and the coach of this years Central Team. Kari Froebe, head coach at West Lincoln Broadwell will coach the Central Team. The Central Team boasts four players from West Lincoln Broadwell who will be playing in their fourth state championship in two years: Elly Martinez, Becca Heitzig, Jenna Bowman and Kloe Froebe.

Also, on the Central Team are Alexis Wade and Hailee Daigh from Mount Pulaski who are coming off their Elite Eight appearance in the IESA State Tournament.

The general public is welcome to come watch some of the top junior high players in the state this weekend.

Free Admission on Saturday, December 15th to the Skills Competition.

On Sunday, December 16th there will be a gate charge of $5 Adults and $4 Students/Seniors.
