[December 10, 2018]  On Saturday morning Podbelsek Family Creations hosted an open house in celebration of their one-year anniversary in Lincoln. In conjunction with the open house, Lincoln Daily News hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the store as well.

At the beginning of the cut it was explained that the Podbelsek Family did not get a ribbon cut when they opened Thanksgiving weekend 2017, so this was an opportunity to make up for that. Those attending the cut included customers of the business plus Lincoln Mayor Seth Goodman, Lincoln City Clerk Peggy Bateman, former Chamber Ambassadors Deron and Kristi Powell, and Karen Hargis, Roy Logan, and Nila Smith of Lincoln Daily News.

The ribbon cut held outside the front of the building was abbreviated because it was quite chilly.

Ann Podbelsek thanked the community who had supported the business this past year, as well as those who were on hand to help in the anniversary celebration and ribbon cut.

Mayor Goodman expressed his appreciation to the family for investing in the community and bringing their unique business to Lincoln.

Ann and her daughter Amanda Maxheimer cut the ribbon and everyone was invited inside where it was warm to visit, enjoy a nice array of finger foods and sweets, and of course, to shop.

Podbelsek Family Creations is owned by Dan and Ann Podbelsek with their daughter Amanda. The store is a real family business in that several family members are also involved including Amanda’s husband Jared Maxheimer, the Podbelsek’s son Will and daughter Paige Mendenhall.

The family loves finding or creating new purpose and life for old things many might consider worn out or out of style.

They use their creative talents and their vision to turn these items into beautiful pieces suitable for the nicest of homes.

One of the big features in the shop on Saturday were the unique wooden Christmas trees made from old doors.

They also have a nice collection of furniture, wall hangings and many beautiful glass and stoneware pieces including antique and vintage pieces.

Each member of the Podbelsek family has full time weekday jobs, so the store is open only one weekend per month, generally the third weekend. So, while the December shopping opportunity is past, when January comes and you’re thinking about starting a fresh new year, you might want to freshen up your home with something re-purposed from the Podbelsek’s. Be sure to stop in and see what they have to offer.
