Sporting KC gave up a second-round pick in 2020
and a first-round pick in 2021 for Hurtado, who spent the past
six seasons with the Whitecaps.
"We are thankful to Erik for his contributions on and off the
pitch over his six seasons in Vancouver, and we wish him all the
best in his next chapter in Kansas City," Whitecaps coach Marc
Dos Santos said in a statement. "This is a move that benefits
both Erik and the club as we continue to make changes to our
roster for the short, medium, and long term."
Hurtado had 12 goals and 10 assists in 105 MLS matches (47
starts) for Vancouver. The 28-year-old had two goals and one
assists in 12 matches (four starts) in 2018.
Wallace has 24 goals and 29 assists in 203 MLS appearances (160
starts) in nine seasons with D.C. United (2009-10), Portland
Timbers (2011-15) and New York City FC (2017-18).
Wallace, who splits time between defense and the midfield, had
one goal and one assists in 18 matches (nine starts) last
season.
"Sporting KC is a passionate club that knows how to win," the
30-year-old Wallace said in a statement. "There are a lot of key
aspects here to winning, from the players and staff to the
facilities and fans.
The soccer atmosphere in Kansas City gives the team that extra
edge, and I am excited to come here and be a part of something
special."
