The selection sent to Toronto FC is the 39th overall pick of the
2019 draft.
Irwin, 29, previously spent three seasons with the Rapids (2013-15)
before being dealt to Toronto FC.
"I'm very happy to return to the club where I began my MLS career,
and look forward to being a big part of the club's future," Irwin
said in a statement.
Irwin is slated to be the backup to standout Tim Howard.
Irwin went 8-13-9 with eight shutouts in 32 starts over three MLS
seasons for Toronto FC.
Irwin was the Rapids' starting goalie for three seasons and went
29-37-23 in 89 appearances (87 starts). He was an MLS All-Star in
2015.
"We are happy to welcome Clint Irwin back to Colorado," Rapids
general manager Padraig Smith said in a statement. "He is a talented
goalkeeper who knows this team and city well. I know our fans will
be looking forward to seeing him back between the posts at Dick's
Sporting Goods Park as much as we are."
