Friday, Dec. 21 -- Longest Night/Blue Christmas Service

The Christmas season is often marked by expressions of joy, excitement, and happiness. However, this time of joy and expectation can often overshadow the pain and hurt many experience during this season, when the world's merriment puts their grief and sorrow in stark relief. Traditionally centered on the Winter Solstice [the longest night of the year], this service will provide time and space, through song and readings from Scripture, for God’s people to reflect on the pain this time of the year can invoke, while also remembering that God is there and that light will soon return.

6 p.m. meal in Community Ed Building
7 p.m. service in Sanctuary

Monday, Dec. 24 -- Candlelight Christmas Eve Service

KIDS WORSHIP—December 2018

During the month of December, during Kids Worship we will learn that Christmas means a lot more than the presents that are under the tree! Kids will discover that the events of Christmas involved a lot of “telling.” Prophets told, the angels told, the innkeeper undoubtedly told, and shepherds as well had a lot to tell. Through this series, we will find that we can continue to tell the story of Jesus’ birth and that our “telling” still has an impact on the world today!

If you would like to encourage and review this study with your child, the weekly topics are listed below (the weekly point is listed in italics). During this month we will focus on a key verse from Luke 2:11, “The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the
Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!”

• Prophets Foretell Jesus’ Birth. Isaiah 7:14; 9:6–7;
We put our hope in Jesus.
• An Angel Appears to Mary and Joseph. Matthew 1:18–25; Luke 1:26–38;
We believe Jesus is God’s Son.
• Jesus is Born in Bethlehem. Luke 2:1–7.
We receive God’s greatest gift.
• Shepherds Learn That Jesus is Born. Luke 2:8–20;
We tell others about Jesus.
• Wise Men Visit Jesus. Matthew 2:1–12;
We seek Jesus every day.

KIDS WORSHIP—January 2019

Trust can be pretty illusive for kids! Broken promises can cause kids to have doubts about what is true. Through the Spelunkers series kids will discover that the Bible is God’s Word and it can be trusted. As kids study, they will see Paul’s emphasis on the importance
and reliability of God’s Word. If you would like to encourage and review this study
with your child, the weekly topics are listed below (the weekly point is listed in italics). During this month we will focus on a key verse from Psalm 119:105, “Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path!”

Paul’s Charge to Timothy. 2 Timothy 3:14–17;
We believe the Bible because it’s from God.

Paul Preaches at Antioch. John 20:30–31; Acts13:16–23;
We know God loves us because of the Bible.

David Loves God’s Word. Psalm 119:11;
We follow God’s Word every day.

Paul Explains How Christians Grow Strong.
Hebrews 5:11–6:3.
We learn how to live from the Bible.
