Obituary
Evelyn E. "Liz" Long, 81, of Normal
formerly of Atlanta passed away on Monday, December
17, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical
Center.
Liz’s funeral will be held on
Saturday December 22, 2018 beginning at 10 a.m. at
The West Twin Grove Christian Church in rural
Bloomington with Rev. Monte Bowers officiating.
Prior to that will be a one-hour visitation,
beginning at 9 a.m., at the church.
Visitation will be held at Quiram-Peasley Funeral
Home in Atlanta from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday,
December 21, 2018.
Burial will take place at Roaches Chapel Cemetery.
in McLean immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be
made to The West Twin Grove Church, Atlanta Rescue
Squad or The American Diabetes Association in her
memory.
Liz was born April 1, 1937 just east of Armington,
Illinois in the coach house on the Medberry farm.
She was the daughter of John and Augusta Williams
Brandt. Liz married Kenneth Long on January 12,
1957. They farmed around the Atlanta area until
1987, then moved to Normal in 2004.

Survivors are her husband, Ken and
three children, Doug of Interlochen, Michigan, Brian
(Rosezona) of Petersburg, Illinois, and Melody
(H.E.) of Conroe, Texas. Four grandchildren, Andie
and Stephanie of Michigan, Jennifer (Nick) of Galva,
Robert of Colona. Three Great Grandchildren Wyatt
and Logan Johnson, and Maddox Long. She is also
survived by one brother Dick (Betty) Brandt of
Bloomington, nephew Rod Brandt, niece Connie Brandt,
one grandnephew, grandniece and one great
grandnephew all in Bloomington and a grandniece in
Olympia, Washington.
Liz was preceded in death by parents, John and
Augusta Brandt, Brother Lyle (Pete), and her in-laws
Oscar and Edith Long.
Liz was a 1955 graduate of Hittle Township High
School in Armington, Illinois, graduating
Salutatorian of her class. She was awarded The
Daughters of American Revolution award. She worked
for State Farm Insurance and as an office manager
for multiple agents for several years. She also
helped her husband farm near Atlanta for 30 years.
Liz enjoyed gardening. flowers, writing letters, and
spending lots of precious time with her family.
Later in life Liz started collecting bells from lots
of places, with the collection nearing 400.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Quiram
Peasley Funeral Home in Atlanta.
