Heyworth edges Hartsburg-Emden 46-45 at the St. Teresa Holiday Tournament

[December 24, 2018]    Hartsburg-Emden suffered a heart-breaking 46-45 loss to the Heyworth Hornets Saturday at the St. Teresa Holiday Tournament.

The Stags trailed the Hornets 15-8 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime Hartem had fought back to take a 23-21 lead. The score was knotted at 37-37 at the end of three quarters of play.

The Stags were up by three points with :30 left to play in the game versus the Hornets. Heyworth made a three to tie the game at 45-45 but the Stags turned the ball over with :05 left and quickly fouled the Hornets. Heyworth made one of the free throws to take the 46-45 lead. The Stags missed a shot at the buzzer and had to settle for the tough loss.

Josh Wright led the Stags with 13 points. Wyatt Hopkins added 11 points for Hartem.
