[December 28, 2018]    The Washington Nationals and veteran right-hander Anibal Sanchez have agreed on a two-year deal, the club announced Thursday.

Official terms were not announced, but the deal is reportedly worth $19 million.

Sanchez, 34, pitched with Atlanta last season, going 7-6 with a 2.83 ERA in 25 games (24 starts) in the regular season. He gave up three runs in 4 2/3 innings in his only postseason start, a 3-0 loss to the Dodgers.

Before joining the Braves, he spent five-plus seasons with Detroit. Sanchez spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Miami Marlins, who acquired Sanchez from the Boston Red Sox in 2005 in the Hanley Ramirez-Josh Beckett trade.

He is 97-100 with a 3.99 ERA in 309 career games (286 starts). His best season was 2013, his first full season in Detroit. He was 14-8 (a career high in wins) and led the league with a 2.57 ERA. He is 35-41 with a 4.68 ERA since then, however.
