The Lincoln College Men’s Basketball team was able to erase a
15-point second half deficit and even claim a brief 3-point lead,
but was unable to hold on in the final seconds against Danville Area
Community College (#13) and took a 58-56 loss at home.
Sloppy play throughout the first half by Lincoln led to a 6-point
lead for Danville at the break. LC committed 13 turnovers in that
first half which made it difficult for the team to get in a rhythm
on offense.
In the second half, Lincoln played with more discipline and was able
to chip away at the Jaguar’s lead. With 2:30 minutes left in the
fourth quarter, LC managed to tie the game then go up by three
points, but a DACC three-pointer went in to again tie the score. The
two teams battled back and forth down the stretch but it was
Danville who would break a 56-56 tie with just two seconds on the
clock with a bucket to go up by two. A half-court shot attempt by
Lincoln bounced off the rim to end the game.
Sophomore Trayvon Tyler (Rockford) and freshman Edwin Rivera (Puerto
Rico) were the only two Lynx to score in double digits. Tyler had 15
points and Rivera had 10.

Lincoln Coach Pat Lepper was disappointed I the loss, but found
positive signs in his team’s ability to come from behind. “We played
hard in the second half and really did a nice job of limiting our
unforced errors,” he said. “It was an entertaining game and one that
we can learn a lot from,” Lepper added.
LC will be at home on Saturday for a 3:00 game against Illinois
Central College.
