Obituary
Russell D. "Rusty" Purlee, 57, of
Lincoln passed away on Thursday, February 8, 2018,
at his sister's home in Bloomington.
Funeral Services for Rusty will be held on Tuesday,
February 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the Waynesville
Christian Church with Mr. David Taylor officiating.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in
Waynesville.
Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5:00
p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Quiram Peasley Funeral
Home in Atlanta.
Russell David Purlee was born on August 20, 1960, in
Clinton, the son of Linda K. Purlee.
He is survived by his children: Amanda Purlee and
Candice Purlee; mother: Dorothy Rich; his siblings:
Connie (Mike) Underwood, Clint Valentine, Mike
Valentine, Connie Coone, Bonnie Coone, Melissa (Pat)
Lee, Randy (Wanda) Rich, Roger (Michelle) Rich,
Rachel Simpson, and Rita Mann; and five
grandchildren: Hunter, Hannah, Isaac, Jenna, and
Damien. |
He was preceded in death by his
mother: Linda Purlee Valentine and his father: Max
Rich.
Rusty was a member of the Waynesville Christian
Church. He was employed as a Mental Health Technician for 24 years
by the State of Illinois.
Rusty was an avid Cardinals fan and morel mushroom hunter. He loved
to play pool and was a Waynesville member of the American
Poolplayers Association, playing in the World Championship in 2017.
He collected baseball cards, was a member of the Sons of American
Legion in Waynesville, and enjoyed shooting off fireworks.
