LINCOLN
All
dressed up and ready for a very special event, sons, daughters and
their parents dressed to the nines and practicing their best manners
came out to the Lincoln Park District for the Parent/Child
Sweetheart Dance on Sunday.
For several years the Lincoln Park District has been hosting the
event as a Valentine occasion for parents to bring their children as
their date.
The activity provides an excellent opportunity for parents to share
create a memorable experience and to teach dating etiquette to their
prodigy for future use. Who better to teach a girl what to expect of
a young man than her father, and mothers can train sons how to
properly to treat their date. And when a parent has imprinted their
child in what to expect, there's less to be nervous about when that
child enters those mysterious and wondrous years of dating.
Park District Program Director Abigail Neece was pleased with
Sunday's turnout. Growing in popularity, the dance was the best to
date with approximately 130 parents and children attending and
everyone had a great time.

The two-hour dance featured DJs playing a combination of popular
dance music, plenty of refreshments, festive Valentine decorations, picture
stations and plenty of helium filled balloons for a celebratory atmosphere.
There were also Valentine crafts. Lincoln Community High School National Honor
Society members Natalie Phillips and Grace Skelton assisted with the activities.
You can bet next year's event will be just as much fun for moms, dads and kids.
