Obituary
Evelyn Minna Baker, 82, of Normal,
formerly of Lincoln passed away on February 13, 2018
at Heartland Health Care Center in Normal.
Evelyn was born on June 25, 1935 in Chenoa, the
daughter of Louis and Ann (Gerwick) Jones.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Deanna (Gabriel)
Peterson of Yuma, AZ; Eric (Sara) Baker of
Bloomington, Ryan (Katana) Baker of Decatur, and
Monica (Robert) Smith of Bloomington; her eight
grandchildren: Elise, Andrew, Jacob, Megan, Isaac,
Emma, Mara, and Aidan; and her sister, Marcia (John)
Baker of Weldon. Additionally, she is survived by
her dear friends Laura, Maxine, and Nancy of
Bloomington-Normal; and Jean of Lincoln.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents.
She graduated from Chenoa High School where she
played the piano, was in band, chorus, and honor
society. Evelyn graduated from Arizona State
University, where she graduated with high
distinction. She was also a member of Psi Chi, Phi
Delta Epsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, and Kappa Delta Pi;
all honorary societies.

She taught English in Normal Unit 5
Schools, Marengo and Hartsburg. She was also a
student at Millikin University, and Decatur School
of Nursing.
Evelyn was active in several services
in the community until her health failed her.
She loved her children, grandchildren, and was very
proud of them. She loved the Lord, her Savior.
Services for Evelyn will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Saturday, February 17, 2018 at The First United
Methodist Church in Lincoln, with Rev. Michael
Paulson officiating. Visitation will take place one
hour prior to the service, (10:00-11:00 a.m.) also
at the church. Burial will be held at Funks Grove
Cemetery on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
Memorials may be made in Evelyn’s name to The
Multiple Sclerosis Society, First United Methodist
Church, Lincoln, or Community Action of Lincoln.
Services have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
