The Colorado Rapids continue to
closely watch the top team in the second tier of English soccer.
Colorado acquired midfielder Jack Price last month from the
Wolverhampton Wanderers (known as Wolves), and the Rapids are now
pursuing Wolves forward Joe Mason, the Daily Mail reported Saturday.
The Washington Post's Steven Goff followed up by reporting that
Mason was nearing a deal to join the Rapids on loan.
Mason, 26, recently was on loan to Burton Albion, another
second-tier English team, before coming back to Wolves in January
followed an injury-laden half-season, the Daily Mail reported.
Mason began his pro career with Plymouth Argyle in his hometown of
Plymouth, England, before playing for Cardiff City and spending a
loan stint with Bolton Wanderers. He has appeared on the Republic of
Ireland's youth national teams as he has an Irish mother.

According to the Daily Mail, the Rapids also are interested Aston
Villa's Ross McCormack, a 31-year-old Scottish striker.
McCormack originally played for Rangers in his hometown of Glasgow
before appearing for a number of teams in Scotland and England. He
finished last season on loan with Nottingham Forest, which, like
Aston Villa, plays in England's second tier.
In September, McCormack was loaned to Melbourne (Australia) City. He
scored 14 goals in 17 games for the A-League club before returning
recently to Aston Villa.
