The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team returned to their
winning ways on Tuesday evening with a 91-58 victory over the
visiting team from Olney Community College.
LC (#15) got off to a slow start and trailed at the end of the first
quarter by seven points (21-14). However, a 24-point offensive
outburst in the second quarter put the Lady Lynx ahead to stay as
they took a 38-32 lead into half time.
Lincoln was able to control the pace of play in the second half and
extend their lead to as many as 33 points. The win improves the
team’s record to 23-3 on the year.
Sophomore Erynn Young (Indianapolis) led the Lady Lynx in scoring
with 23 points. She also had eight rebounds, seven assists, four
blocks and three steals. Freshman Elizabeth Bankole (Rockford) had a
double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Fellow freshman
Kaleia Montiero (Rockford) also had a double-double with 15 points
and 18 rebounds. Nautica Preston (Chicago) had 20 points and Allysah
Boothe (Chicago) scored 13.

“We were a bit sluggish out of the gate, but played really well the
final three quarters,” said LC head coach Matt Vavro. “I thought we
got back to our flow offensively which was a positive for us. We
ended up with 17 assists. Anytime you near 20 assists it is a good
sign on that end. I thought we showed better toughness as we won the
rebounding battle by 19,” he added.
Lincoln will not have much time to savor the victory as they play
again this evening at 5:30 on the road at Danville Area CC.
