Obituary
John Grathwohl, 80, of Mount Pulaski,
passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Memorial
Medical Center in Springfield.
John was born on October, 30, 1937 in Decatur, the
son of Albert and Mary Jean (Pope) Grathwohl. He
married Patricia Cooper on March 23, 1963, she
survives in Mount Pulaski.
John is also survived by his sons, Greg (Teresa)
Grathwohl and Todd (Elaina) Grathwohl; his
step-grandchildren, Logan and Bella; his sister,
Janice Colvin of Quincy; and his brother, Richard
Grathwohl of Nebraska.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army
from 1959-1961, he served in Germany for 17 months.
He was very active at Zion Lutheran Church and
School; where he served in various positions. John
was a brick mason, laborer, and foreman from
1961-1975. John retired as a livestock and grain
farmer after 38 years. He enjoyed country western
dance, woodworking, and playing Pinochle with his
family. |
Services for John will be held at
11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Zion
Lutheran Church in Mount Pulaski, with Rev. Jonathan
Beuscher officiating. Visitation will take place
from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018
also at the church. Burial will follow the services
at Steenbergen Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Memorial donations may be made in John’s name to
Zion Lutheran Church or School.
Services have been entrusted to
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski.
