State Champion Girls Basketball takes on Lincoln PD and TV and radio
sports personalities
Special basketball game to be fundraiser
for local D.A.R.E. program

LINCOLN
The
Lincoln DARE program will host a unique fundraiser featuring a
basketball game showcasing the state champion girls’ basketball team
from West Lincoln-Broadwell Elementary School.
WLB will take on a team of area media all-stars featuring the crew
from WLCN 96.3 FM’s Cheap Seats Saturday morning sports show,
WAND-TV sports director Gordon Voit and officers from the Lincoln
Police Department.
The event takes place on Sunday, March 4 at West Lincoln-Broadwell
Elementary School starting at 5 pm. Several other activities are
planned, including a bake sale, a 50/50 drawing, a half-court shot
contest and a DARE merchandise sale. Chances will be sold to win a
prize package donated by Illinois American Water Company consisting
of four tickets to a Peoria Rivermen hockey game and Buffalo Wild
Wings gift card. Some additional surprises may take place as well.

Admission to the game will be a monetary donation. Proceeds from
all activities will benefit the Lincoln DARE program.

Sports has had many famous contests throughout history, from the “Thrilla in
Manila” Ali-Frazier boxing match to the “Miracle on Ice” U.S. Olympic hockey
victory.
