Lincoln College Names New Director for Heritage Museum
Assistant Director and Curator Anne Moseley Will Lead Museum

 

[January 06, 2018]  LINCOLN - Anne E. Moseley has been named director of the Lincoln Heritage Museum at Lincoln College. Moseley, who has been the assistant director and curator of the Museum replaces former Museum Director Tom McLaughlin, who is leaving to accept a position in the financial services industry.

Moseley has been with the Lincoln Heritage Museum since August 2011. She was awarded the Illinois State Historical Society’s Malkovich Award for Young Museum Professional in 2015 for her outstanding contribution to Collections Management and Exhibit development at the Lincoln Heritage Museum.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in History from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE) and a Master’s degree in Public History from the University of Illinois at Springfield (UIS).

“I can’t express how fortunate and humbled I am to be entrusted with this responsibility. The Lincoln Heritage Museum is a great asset for Lincoln College and Logan County generally. I look forward to helping the Museum grow in the coming years,” Moseley said.

“It has been a great honor for me to lead the Lincoln Heritage Museum for the past several years. I look forward to new opportunities but know I will greatly miss my Lincoln College family,” McLaughlin said. “However, knowing that Anne will be taking over the directorship of the Museum gives me complete confidence that I am leaving this institution in terrific hands.”

Moseley is a member of the Abraham Lincoln National Heritage Area Steering Council, Abraham Lincoln Association, National Association for Interpretation Region 5, and the Abraham Lincoln Center for Character Development.

She is also well-known for her interpretive portrayals of Lincoln-era figures, including Mary Todd Lincoln. She is certified by the National Association for Interpretation (NAI) as a Certified Interpretive Trainer (CIT).

In the spring of 2010 she participated in the UIS Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Research Symposium and won an award for her paper The Family Business: The Lochridge Brothers paper. The same paper was presented during the 2010 Conference on Illinois History. In the summer of 2010 she worked for Looking for Lincoln Coalition’s (LFLC) History Comes Alive program. While working for LFLC She developed educational activities for the community and was a Living History interpreter.

She has also been a researcher and tour guide for the Old State Capital in Springfield. In the summer of 2008 she was an intern for the Missouri History Museum Education Department in St. Louis. There she developed gallery talks and other educational programs for their museum. While at UIS she worked for the Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) on campus. During her time working for IRAD she indexed central Illinois county records.
